EPIX, Inc, manufacturer of imaging boards and software for the PC computer, announces enhanced software support for the PIXCI® (PCI) image capture board as well as for the 4MEG VIDEO series of image capture hardware. EPIX image processing power is now accessible under Windows NT V4.0.

These new drivers and DLLs are an extension of the outstanding board control and image processing libraries EPIX already has available for Win 95, Win 3.x, and DOS. Capture and display image sequences at video rates. Multiplex video sources; analyze color planes; display at S/VGA resolutions. Control integration times for low-light acquisition -- set shutter speeds to minimize blur. Measure edges to sub-pixel accuracy; track the displacement of particles; quantify the number, size and dimensions of an object, or many objects, recorded in a single frame.

PIXCI® acquires images from ALL standard video sources including NTSC, PAL, and S-video color cameras, as well as RS-170 and CCIR monochrome. The PIXCI® is a PCI bus master imaging board which digitizes video directly into PC memory. The 4MEG VIDEO captures from RS-170 and CCIR monochrome as well as from line scan, high resolution, high frame rate, area scan, and digital output cameras -- as well as from medical imaging equipment. The 4MEG VIDEO series offers up to 256 Mbytes of on-board memory plus the processing power of two 50MHz TMS320C40 DSPs.

Windows NT support capability provides the end user and OEM with the most up-to-date vehicle for product development and support. EPIX hardware and software products are especially well suited for automated inspection and sorting, quality control, measurement, scientific image analysis, character recognition, document processing, and medical imaging.
